Ones To Watch: SKAM

In our new weekly feature, Planet Rock shines the spotlight on an up-and-coming band worthy of your attention. We kick off with SKAM!

SKAM are Steve Hill (vocals/guitar), Matt Gilmore (bass/backing vocals) and Neal Hill (drums/backing vocals).

Formed in Leicester in 2011, thanks to a relentless work ethic and a keen eye for a killer tune, hard rock trio SKAM have already made significant waves in their career so far. Self-professed purveyors of ‘non-nonsense, gutsy, classic sounding British rock music’, the band have unleashed two studio albums (2011’s ‘It’s Come To This’ and 2013’s ‘Peacemaker'), performed over 500 gigs in every major city in the UK and Ireland and have landed coveted slots at Ramblin’ Man Fair, Steelhouse Festival and Planet Rock’s inaugural Winter’s End Festival back in February where they played a storming set.

Currently at the height of their game, SKAM are primed to release their new concept album ‘The Amazing Memoirs of Geoffrey Goddard’ on Friday 17th November on CD, vinyl and digital formats. The album features a story-arc of Squadron Leader Geoffrey Goddard, a test pilot from 1935, who is a victim of strange forces that jolt him through time. The songs and accompanying album artwork, videos and booklets tell his tale as he battles to return home and at times, for his very sanity.
