Esteemed Australian guitarist Orianthi has recalled the time she broke her ankle running away from a ‘scary’ Alice Cooper fan in Russia.

Having recently released her fourth solo album ‘O’, Orianthi is the very special guest on My Planet Rocks with Wyatt this coming Sunday evening on Planet Rock at 7pm.

Alongside picking her favourite songs and discussing her influences, the one-hour show sees Orianthi reflect upon working with Planet Rock’s very own Alice Cooper, Nikki Sixx and more, and reveal that she has already commenced work on her fifth studio record.

Discussing her tenure playing lead guitar with Alice Cooper from 2011 to 2014, Orianthi said the shock rock legend’s concerts are on another level.

“It’s not like a straightforward rock and roll show,” Orianthi said. “It’s about dodging pythons, swords, Frankenstein, guillotines, crazy fans.

“(Alice Cooper fans) can get pretty scary, I’m not gonna lie. I broke my ankle actually in Russia running away from one of them. He had a keytar, and he was dressed like a clown with a bit of Alice Cooper makeup on and glitter everywhere.”

35-year-old Orianthi also opened up about being personally picked by Michael Jackson as the guitarist for the ill-fated This Is It shows in 2009.

Orianthi was present for all the This Is It rehearsals at for The O2 Arena residency and she features in the film Michael Jackson's This Is It.

In the wake of Michael Jackson’s death in June 2009 a month before the shows were due to start, Orianthi says she found herself being chased by paparazzi and autograph hunters.

“It was wild,” Orianthi told Wyatt. “I’d be walking down the street with my sister and like 10 camera people would come up. We got chased. I remember this one time we were hiding in a Sushi restaurant – we ran in there as we had all these people coming up (to us). There were 20 or 30 people, no joke. I was like ‘What is this?! This is wild.’ I had never experienced anything like that.”
