Ozzy Osbourne gives health update at first public appearance since surgery
He appeared at Comic-Con in San Diego on Friday
Ozzy Osbourne has updated fans on his health during his first public appearance since he underwent major surgery last month.
In early June, Ozzy’s wife and manager Sharon said that the operation – reportedly to remove and realign pins in his neck and back - was “really going to determine the rest of (Ozzy’s) life.”
Ozzy had previously revealed to Classic Rock Magazine he “can’t walk properly these days” and explained: “I have physical therapy every morning. I am somewhat better, but nowhere near as much as I want to be to go back on the road.”
The injuries stem from a serious fall in his bedroom in 2019, which aggravated injuries suffered in a quadbike accident in 2003.
A day after the operation, Sharon confirmed that Ozzy was “doing well and on the road to recovery.”
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at Comic-Con in San Diego on Friday (22nd July), Ozzy said it was “great” to be out and about meeting his fans.
"I like to see people, you know,” Ozzy said. “That's been the hardest thing of the past three years, because I've been trying to recover from my surgery. I'm getting there. It's a slow climb back, you know?"
Ozzy Osbourne is hoping to get fit for his No More Tours 2 UK & Ireland tour next May and June with special guests Judas Priest.
The tour was initially announced in September 2018 and it’s scheduled to take place almost half-a-decade after tickets went on sale.
Yesterday, Ozzy Osbourne premiered his new single ‘Degradation Rules’, featuring typically colossal guitars from his Black Sabbath band mate Tony Iommi.
‘Degradation Rules’ is lifted from Ozzy Osbourne’s 13th studio album ‘Patient Number 9’, which lands on Friday 9th September 2022.
Produced by Andrew Watt, the record boasts many more big name collaborators including Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Zakk Wylde, Eric Clapton, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, the late-great Taylor Hawkins, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo (who plays bass on most of the album’s tracks), Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction.
