Ozzy Osbourne premieres new song 'Patient Number 9' featuring Jeff Beck - listen

After teasing snippets of new material earlier this week, Ozzy Osbourne has officially premiered his new single ‘Patient Number 9’ featuring guitar from the legendary Jeff Beck.
Co-written and produced by Andrew Watt, ‘Patient Number 9’ had its first play on Planet Rock this morning (24th June) and it’s being played every hour throughout the day.
‘Patient Number 9’ features lyrics about a mental institution including: "When they call your name, better run and hide / Tell you you're insane, you believe their lies / I'm not getting out, no I'm not getting out alive / I'm not getting out, 'cause I'm patient number 9."
The song is the title track of Ozzy Osbourne’s forthcoming 13th studio album ‘Patient Number 9’, which lands on Friday 9th September 2022 and features guest spots from Mike McCready, Zakk Wylde, Tony Iommi and Eric Clapton.
Other contributors include Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, the late-great Taylor Hawkins, Metallica’s Robert Trujillo (who plays bass on most of the album’s tracks), Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction.
A ‘Patient Number 9’ music video by artist and comic book creator Todd McFarlane will premiere later today, and you can listen to the audio below.

Commenting on drafting in Jeff Beck for ‘Patient Number 9’, Ozzy Osbourne says: "The song is about a mental institution. Having someone like Jeff Beck play on my album is just incredible, a total honour. There's no other guitar player that plays like him and his solo on 'Patient Number 9' is just jaw-dropping."
Reflecting on joining forces with his Black Sabbath band mate Tony Iommi once again, Ozzy added: "It was really great working with Tony. He's the riff master. No one can touch him in that respect. I only wish we had these songs for Black Sabbath's '13' album."
