Ozzy Osbourne has cancelled his planned trip to Switzerland for Parkinson’s disease treatment due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

When Ozzy Osbourne first revealed his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in January, wife and manager Sharon told Good Morning America they were travelling to Switzerland in April so Ozzy could receive an innovative treatment.

"We’ve kind of reached a point here in this country where we can’t go any further because we’ve got all the answers we can get here (in America),” Sharon said at the time.

“So, in April we’re going to a professor in Switzerland and he deals with getting your immune system at its peak. So, we’re going to go wherever we can go to seek answers.”

Speaking from her Californian home on US chat show The Talk yesterday (30th March), Sharon said the planned treatment won’t be going ahead.

“We had to cancel our trip to Switzerland,” Sharon said. “And we were meant to go the eighth of April, but we had to cancel for his treatment. And we’re just hanging in like everybody else. You know, just trying to stay away, and be quiet, and just, you know, hold it in there.

“I honestly find this such frightening times. I just think it’s a really, really frightening time to be alive.”

Ozzy’s medical trip in Switzerland was expected to last between six and eight weeks, and it previously forced him to axe the entire North American leg of his “No More Tours 2” farewell tour.

Last week, Ozzy’s daughter Kelly Osbourne launched a ‘Stay At Home For Ozzy’ campaign urging people to self-isolate during the coronavirus crisis.

“Both of my parents are high risk especially my dad,” Kelly wrote on Instagram. “If I would have known 3 weeks ago when I sent them off to Panama that that was gonna be the last time I got to hug and kiss them for a while… I would have held on a little longer.

“However, these are the sacrifices we must make. I stay home for my mum and dad. If you don’t have anyone to stay home for I beg you #StayHomeForOzzy”

Over the weekend, Kelly shared a photo of the Osbourne family social-distancing around their swimming pool while wearing masks.

She wrote: “Today was the first time I got to see my parents in almost 3 weeks!!! Even though i did not get to hug them.... at this point I will take what I can get.”

The Instagram post also included a screenshot of a text from Ozzy, which read: “It was so lovely seeing you today. It breaks my heart that I couldn’t give you a kiss and a hug.”

Ozzy Osbourne's No More Tours 2 is due to hit the UK this autumn.
