Phil Mogg says UFO are considering a ‘Strangers In The Night’ tour
UFO singer Phil Mogg has told Planet Rock Magazine that the band have talked about a ‘Strangers In The Night’ tour.
Regarded by many fans and critics alike as among the finest live albums in rock music, Phil said the band are considering whether to perform the 1979 tour-de-force in its entirety on the road.
“We have talked about touring and just doing the whole of ‘Strangers In The Night’ - for the craic,” Phil told us.
“But we’re still about making new music. We’re recording a covers album, actually. We’ve done The Doors’ ‘Break on Through (To The Other Side)’, The Yardbirds’ ‘Heart Full Of Soul’… but we don’t know what to call it.”
Elsewhere in his My Guide To Life feature, Phil urged some of his fellow rock veterans to wear sensible trousers and embrace growing old.
He said: “I’ve seen a few elderly men backstage recently and their look – with the hair and the trousers – is more ageing than if they’d embraced growing old. I’ve shaved my head now and joined the baldy club. There’s a lot of us around.
“I found some old stage gear the other week and tried it on. Honestly, no! I looked at myself with a couple of bollocks hanging down the left side of my leg.
“And that’s the thing – do you really want to see a man past 50 showing the outline of his knob? It’s a bit disgusting.”
