Pink Floyd to release remastered ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ a week after Roger Water’s Redux version
The standalone remasters will be available on vinyl, CD and Blu-ray
Pink Floyd have announced the upcoming stand-alone release of the newly remastered ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ on CD, LP and Blu-ray.
These versions will be released on 13th October – just a week after Roger Waters’ reworked and re-recorded version ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux’.
The remaster was originally available only as part of the ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ 50th Anniversary Box Set, making the new release the first time this remaster has been made available on its own.
The Blu-ray contains the Dolby Atmos and a 5.1 Surround mix as well as the remastered Stereo version. The package comes with commemorative postcards, stickers and a 24-page booklet.
Originally released in 1973 Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ is widely considered to be one of the most iconic and influential albums ever.
It came out top in Planet Rock's listener vote of the greatest rock albums of all time, while the artwork was voted the second best of all time

As well as reissues of the album, the 50th anniversary celebrations have included a competition for animators to create animated music videos for songs on the album.
A winner will be selected by a panel of experts which will include Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason and Pink Floyd's creative consultant Aubrey 'Po' Powell.
Former singer, bassist and lyricist Roger Waters has also been hard at work on his own re-recording of the seminal album, titled ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon Redux’.

In an interview with the Telegraph he said: “I wrote The Dark Side of the Moon. Let’s get rid of all this ‘we’ crap. Of course we were a band – there were four of us, we all contributed – but it’s my project and I wrote it, so, blah.”
His re-recorded version of the album is due out on 6th October.
