Planet Rock broadcast live from Jimi Hendrix's flat - Listen Again

On Tuesday, Wyatt hosted a very special show, live from Jimi Hendrix's apartment!

Published 9th Feb 2016

Planet Rock went to 23 Brook Street on Tuesday (9th February) for our first ever outside broadcast, ahead of the historic London residence opening to the public for the first time from 10th February.

In partnership with Handel Hendrix in London, this special broadcast celebrated the life and work of one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived... in the very place he lived.

The show was curated using Jimi Hendrix's own record collection, which features as part of the apartment's restoration, as well as some of the greatest songs from his back catalogue.

During the broadcast Wyatt spoke to guests who knew Jimi, including Kathy Etchingham; his girlfriend with whom he shared the flat in 1968 and rock photographer Barrie Wentzell. The programme also contained archive interviews with the likes of Jimi's brother Leon, Brian May, Tony Iommi, Gary Moore, Geezer Butler and Lemmy.

Planet Rock listeners also had the chance to win a Fender Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster, CDs and a Hendrix tablature book to help them play guitar like the legend himself (or at least closer than they may have managed to before!).
