Having received rave reviews for his shows Down Under in 2017, Glenn be bringing his ‘Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live’ to these shores, where he will perform a set each night of exclusively Deep Purple material.

The tour kicks off at Bristol O2 Academy on Tuesday 2nd October and calls in at Leamington Spa, Southampton, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester before wrapping up at London’s KOKO on Monday 15th October.

Glenn, who fronted the MK 3 and MK 4 incarnations of Deep Purple, enthuses: "I'm excited to be touring the “Classic Deep Purple Live” in the UK this October.

“I first toured Classic Deep Purple Live in Australia and New Zealand last year and it went down like a storm. We’re also touring the show throughout South America in April, and festivals throughout the summer. By the time we tour the UK in October, we’ll be on fire.”

Glenn’s touring band boasts Soren Anderson (guitar), Jesper Bo Hansen (keyboards) and new drummer for the project Fernando Escobedo (drums).

We’ve secured a 48-hour ticket presale to the tour, which kicks off at Planet Rock Tickets 9am on Wednesday 21st February. Tickets cost £27.50, except London (£30.00).

Deep Purple anthems Glenn will perform from his tenure with the band include ‘Burn’, ‘Stormbringer’, ‘Might Just Take Your Life’, ‘Mistreated’, ‘Gettin’ Tighter’ and ‘You Keep On Moving’.

Elsewhere, Deep Purple MK 2 classics ‘Highway Star’ and ‘Smoke on the Water’ are also featured in the setlist.

Glenn says: “I did play both these numbers during my time with Purple and they were mainstays of the live set when I was in the band.  As my manager pointed out to me, the first time Smoke on The Water was ever played live at Madison Square Garden was when David and I were in the band in 1974. I love singing Highway Star, too.”

He adds: “A few years back, I cut a barnstorming version of Highway Star for the Machine Head anniversary tribute album with my good friends Steve Vai and Chad Smith. I’m not playing anything on the forthcoming tour that I didn’t either play live or record in the studio with Purple.”

Glenn Hughes Performs Classic Deep Purple Live is the first time Glenn has performed a show solely of Deep Purple material since his last show with the rock legends at the Liverpool Empire on March 15th 1976.

“I can still sing the songs, in some ways even better than I did in the 70’s,” says Glenn. “I can still perform them with the same energy that was on the stage back then, too. I feel that the time is right. It’s fun to get back into character of my days with Purple.

“I’m looking back at my life and I want to remember the good stuff. I’m incredibly excited to perform these songs, as they helped define the genre. I can assure you, the new show is going to blow your mind.”

In addition to his UK tour, Glenn is one of the headliners of Saturday night at Steelhouse Festival 2018 in what will be his first Classic Deep Purple Live show in the UK.

Glenn Hughes features on an incredible Steelhouse Festival line-up that boasts Black Star Riders, The Wildhearts, Dan Reed Network, Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons, The Quireboys, King King, Stone Broken and many more.

Dubbed ‘The Welsh International Classic Rock Festival’, the eighth Steelhouse Festival takes place at Hafod-Y-Dafal Farm in Ebbw Vale, Gwent, Wales from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th July 2018. Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
