PRESALE: Rick Wakeman announces 2018 Piano Odyssey Tour
Yes ivory tinkler Rick Wakeman will play an extensive tour later this year in support of his upcoming new album ‘Piano Odyssey’.
The fourteen-date Piano Odyssey Tour this autumn will feature even more classic tracks given Rick’s unique piano treatment, and will travel to towns and cities not previously visited in 2017.
In the run-up to the festive period, the progressive rock icon will then play a separate Christmas Piano Odyssey Tour taking in December shows in Bristol, London, Cambridge and Manchester. The set-list at these shows will be given a ‘directly seasonal twist.’

Rick says: “In the footsteps of Piano Portraits, the new album Piano Odyssey features a collection of music old and new that includes some particular favourites of mine. I’m looking forward to performing tracks from it live on my own odyssey around the UK in the autumn!”
The 2018 gigs will be based on a selection of tracks from both ‘Piano Odyssey’ and ‘Piano Portraits’ and will also feature hilarious memories and anecdotes about the tunes, plus a few musical surprises.
Rick released the ‘Piano Portraits’ album in January 2017, which featured instrumental renditions of David Bowie’s ‘Life on Mars’ and ‘Space Oddity’; both of which Rick performed on.
Alongside an original composition entitled 'Dance of the Damselflies', the album also boasts versions of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway To Heaven’, The Beatles’ ‘Help’ and ‘Eleanor Rigby’, 10CC’s ‘I’m Not In Love’ and Yes’s Jon Anderson penned anthem ‘Wonderous Stories’.
Upon its release, the record became the first solo piano album ever to reach the UK Top 10 when it entered at No.6.
