Queen + Adam Lambert have surprised fans in Bologna, Italy by performing the opera classic ‘Nessun Dorma.’

Six songs into The Rhapsody Tour date at Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno on Sunday night (10th July), Queen + Adam Lambert launched into an impromptu rendition of Giacomo Puccini's aria, which was popularised by Luciano Pavarotti at the 1990 World Cup in Italy.

Flaunting his vocal prowess, Adam Lambert duly hit all the right notes, and the performance was met with a rapturous reception from the capacity crowd.

Sharing a video of the performance on Instagram, Brian May wrote on Instagram: “A spontaneous gift to Bologna last night!!! So proud of Adam!!! I can see our dear departed friend Luciano smiling!!”

Following the rousing rendition on Sunday, Queen + Adam Lambert performed ‘Nessun Dorma’ again at their second sold-out Unipol Arena show on Monday night.

Queen + Adam Lambert continue European leg of The Rhapsody Tour at Paris AccorHotels Arena on Wednesday night (13th July).

Following dates in Antwerp, Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo, the epic trek concludes with two shows at Tampere Nokia Arena in Finland on 24th and 25th July.

The tour also included 19 shows in London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and Belfast earlier this summer.
