Richie Sambora officially confirms plans to reunite with Bon Jovi

Guitar legend Richie Sambora has told Planet Rock he’s “ready” to reunite with Bon Jovi.
Following 30 years and 12 studio albums as lead guitarist and co-songwriter, Richie Sambora exited Bon Jovi in 2013 to pursue other musical ventures, which have included his RSO project with Orianthi.
A few days after Richie Sambora was unveiled as Jacket Potato on ITV show The Masked Singer, Richie dropped by Planet Rock’s studios for a chat with Sam Hughes.
After discussing what it was like performing as an anthropomorphic spud for several weeks, Sambora told us he’s hoping to rejoin Bon Jovi in the near future.
“We’re talking about Bon Jovi getting back together and all of that stuff,” Sambora said. “I don’t know how long it’s gonna take and what’s going on (but) I’m ready, let’s go!”
Speaking to Absolute Radio in more detail about the Bon Jovi reunion, Sambora said he doesn’t “think there's any reason not to (reunite) at this point.”
Talking about his post-Masked Singer plans, he said: “There’s a new (solo) album coming out, probably at the end of the end of March or the beginning of April and (it’s) with Bob Rock. It’s a rock record. Yeah, it's a lot of fun and the songs are good, and I'm thrilled, and I can't wait to get out and play again.
“I don't know when Jon’s going to get his voice together and (when the Bon Jovi reunion is) going to happen, but we have to get out there and do it for the fans really. I feel a second obligation.
“I've had such a privilege and an opportunity - and this is not bulls---, it's really true - my life is pretty good, always has been and I get to do what I love to do for a living and it's a damn good living. And I never really stopped really.”
Asked if he will write new music with Bon Jovi, Richie said: “Oh, if (Jon Bon Jovi) doesn't let me, he's crazy. I'm on a tear.
"Actually, I did write that other (Bon Jovi) stuff, too. It's a misnomer when people go just because his name (Jon Bon Jovi) is on (the band) that's the name. We just couldn't think of anything else really.
“People think that I just come up with the guitar parts and something like that. But songwriting is conceptual. You have to have a concept. It's a story. And it can sometimes just come from looking out the window and observing and a lot of times it comes from your own life and for the most part of Bon Jovi my life was a lot (more) colourful than everybody else's in the band!”
Elsewhere during the chat, Sambora said his relationship with Jon Bon Jovi is good, explaining: “You know what, there's no malice. I mean, we did something… there's not a lot of bands that did what we did.”
Sambora also told Absolute Radio: “Jon (Bon Jovi) was having a hard time with his voice a little bit there and he needed to take a little bit of a breather.”

I suppose that's that particular cat out of the bag. So great to be doing this again. Playing this fantastic music with these brilliant people makes me run out of superlatives." In June 2023, Catalyst confirmed he's no longer a touring member of Ghost.
Nameless Ghoul Fire unmasked
Chris Catalyst's end of tour photo also confirmed that Ghost's Nameless Ghoul lead guitarist, Fire (formerly Alpha), is former Bloodbath guitarist Per Eriksson. Fans have also given the Swedish musician's character the nickname Sodo.
John 5 unmasked
When he's performing live with Rob Zombie, guitarist John 5 wears makeup and masks onstage, including this Aliens-esque guise at Download Festival in 2014. The 52-year-old musician has recently been recruited as a touring member of Mötley Crüe and he's performing sans makeup on stage.
Richie Sambora unmasked
In February 2023, former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora was unveiled as Jacket Potato on ITV show The Masked Singer. Speaking about his involvement in the show, Richie Sambora said: "It took a little getting used to (singing in a potato), but once I put it on, that was it! It's a wild reality when you do this show, it's a gas. Everyone has treated me so good here. I've had a ball! It's been a lot of fun."
