Scott Gorham has showed his artwork for the first time and launched a website where fans can buy limited edition prints.

The Thin Lizzy and former Black Star Riders guitarist appeared at a special event last night (22nd April) hosted by Planet Rock’s Paul Anthony.

The launch, which was held at the Karma Sanctum Soho hotel in London, also featured a Q&A conducted by ‘Life on Mars’ star Philip Glenister.

Gorham started drawing on tour with Thin Lizzy in the 1970s but kept his efforts secret from his bandmates.

He continued through more recent tours with Black Star Riders but again kept his artwork to himself. He didn’t even show wife Christine until she discovered a folder containing numerous drawings.

Some of these dated back to the early 1980s and were inspired by Gorham's life on the road, getting sober, the state of the planet and even the time Phil Lynott took him to his first football match.

“But none of the band, even Phil, saw any of them,” Gorham says. “I do wonder what Phil would have thought. But on tour, these drawings were me taking myself away from the music for a few hours.”

The guitarist shared a piece called ‘The Fan’ on social media to commemorate what would have been Phil Lynott’s birthday three years ago.

“This very personal drawing drew thousands of positive responses with fans asking whether there were other drawings and where they could buy it,” he explains.

“It took a further three years to persuade me and agree to introduce some of my collection to the public…. I never expected to show them to anyone.”

Now he has launched the Scott Gorham World website where fans can view and buy limited edition prints of his artwork.
