On the back of a triumphant past year, Shinedown scooped the Best International Band and Best International Album honours at Planet Rock’s sixth annual celebration of the greatest rock music on Thursday (21st February).

Facing extremely stiff competition, Shinedown received 20.3% of the total Best International Band votes ahead of Foo Fighters’ 18.3% in second spot.

In the Best International Album poll, Shinedown’s sixth studio album ‘Attention Attention’ picked up a whopping 24.2% of the total votes  - nearly double that of Ghost’s ‘Prequelle’ in second place with 12.4%.

Filmed backstage on the latest leg of their North American tour, Shinedown have released a video message thanking everyone who voted for them.

Lead guitarist Zach Myers said: “Just sending your guys an absolutely heartfelt thank you for winning Best International Band and Best International Album. Thank you so much, it means the world to us.

“Thank you to the fans who voted, we know this is a fan voted awards. Thanks to all the fans in the UK, you guys rock. Thank you so much, we hope that we will see you at the end of year. Thank you guys again.”

Iron Maiden also won two awards at The Rocks 2019 – Best British Band and Best Live Band – and Fish, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne and Kris Barras Band were also among the winners.
