Toto guitarist Steve Lukather has fired back at a noisy neighbour by blasting his guitar in his garden at Volume 11.

Yesterday morning (11th August), Steve was enjoying a lovely sleep at his Los Angeles home, however, at the ungodly hour of 7am, his neighbour’s gardener fired up his leaf blowers and rudely awoke the esteemed axeman from his morning slumber.

Clearly not a man to be messed with, Steve duly marched into his garden in his pyjamas armed with his guitar and amp and proceeded to unleash audio wrath on his neighbour thanks to some crushing Hendrix-esque riffs, before screaming “GOOD MORNING!” at the top of his lungs.

Uploading footage of his retaliation on Instagram, Steve wrote: “(This is) what happens when the d---head neighbors Gardner starts up 10 blowers at 7am! #goodmorningsunshine.”

Reacting to the video, Peter Frampton replied: “They also owe you $$ for your performance! Al mowers and blowers need to become rakers and takers anyway. Much love.”

Watch Steve Lukather unleash sonic wrath upon his neighbour:

Asked on Twitter if his neighbour got the message, Steve responded: “SILENCE! It worked.”

He also reassured his followers that his pet pug dog wasn’t affected by the noise, by explaining his amp was "on top of my kids' trampoline” and it “was way above her head. I would never... I love my dog!”

Last autumn, Steve Lukather announced that Toto’s concert at The Met in Philadelphia on Sunday 20th October was their last for the "foreseeable future" and "certainly the end of this configuration of Toto."

Hinting that the gruelling demands of touring life are part of the reason behind the decision, Lukather told Morning Call: “This kind of lifestyle is way harder than people think it is.

"They just think that we float around from city to city magically and live a life of luxury. And I’m not saying that we travel poorly, but it’s a burden to be away from your family 230 days a year, like me.”

Toto’s representative Stever Karas later clarified the band are going hiatus rather than splitting up.

Karas told The Inquirer: “Future plans will be announced in 2020 as they unfold and become formal following what is a true break following the 40 Trips Around The Sun tour which has been on-going for more than two years now.”

In September 2019, African Rainwater signed by Toto, in homage to their 1982 smash hit 'Africa', went up for auction to raise money for Childline, Nordoff Robbins and Teenage Cancer Trust.
