Planet Rock’s sixth annual celebration of the greatest British and international rock music is a welcome antidote to the pop-obsessed music industry back-patting events that often overlook our beloved genre.

Rather than being decided by faceless industry bigwigs behind closed doors, all categories at The Rocks are voted entirely by the fans themselves - and tens of thousands of rock music fans from all corners of the globe had their say once again this year!

Thanks to the continued success of their spectacular Legacy of the Beast World Tour, Iron Maiden triumphed in two categories; Best British Band (where they received a whopping 37.5% of the total vote) and Best Live Band.

Iron Maiden’s long-term manager Rod Smallwood has recorded a video message thanking fans and also explaining why the Best Live Band award in particular means so much:

On the back of phenomenal past year, Floridian rockers Shinedown were also double winners scooping Best International Band – where they received 20.3% of the vote ahead of Foo Fighters’ 18.3% - and Best International Album for ‘Attention Attention’.

Other big winners are Fish who triumphed in the Best British Single category for ‘Man With A Stick’, Judas Priest who scooped Best British Album for the phenomenal ‘Firepower’ and Ozzy Osbourne who was named Best Worldwide Solo Artist.

The Best New Band category was an open vote with more than 100 acts vying for the prestigious honour. Fast ascending blues rockers The Kris Barras Band, fronted by the titular Kris Barras, came out on top ahead of Those Damn Crows and Edenthorn in second and third spot respectively.
