Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden, When Rivers Meet, Florence Black, Myles Kennedy and Ann Wilson were among the winners at The Rocks 2022 tonight (28th April).

The Rocks is Planet Rock’s annual celebration of the finest British and international rock music, and it was devised by Wyatt as a direct response to the countless award ceremonies that turn their noses up at rock and metal music.

For the second consecutive year, The Rocks 2022 awards ceremony was broadcast live on Planet Rock’s YouTube channel, and this year it was hosted by Wyatt and Sam Hughes at The Asylum in Birmingham.

Following many thousands of fan votes in recent weeks, Foo Fighters, When Rivers Meet and Iron Maiden were the biggest winners scooping two prestigious gongs apiece, while Myles Kennedy and Florence Black also triumphed.

Heart legend Ann Wilson followed in the footsteps of last year’s winner David Coverdale and was named the recipient of the Rocks Honours Award, which recognises artists for their contribution to rock music.

Reflecting our playlist and shows, there were several new categories in 2022 including Stateside Award, Blues Power Award and the Greatest Metal Band of All Time.

We also introduced the Best Live Venue category and esteemed rock venue the Waterloo Music Bar in Blackpool deservedly took the honour and the inaugural Black Plaque Award.

Alongside all the awards dished out, the ceremony boasted live performances from Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Ricky Warwick, Elles Bailey, Stone Broken and When Rivers Meet.
