The heavy metal legend shared a video on Twitter yesterday where he thanked organisers and fans for the unique heavy metal bench honour.

Confirming his attendance, Tony added that “unfortunately” Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward won’t be present due to “other commitments.”

The ceremony takes place just hours before Ozzy takes to the stage at the Birmingham Resorts World Arena as part of his No More Tours 2 tour with special guests Judas Priest.

Alongside the bench unveiling, Bill Ward will receive his own star on Birmingham’s Walk of Stars at the event and the bridge on Broad Street will be officially renamed the Black Sabbath Bridge.

Black Sabbath will also get their own star, and all five stars will be rearranged into the shape of a cross which will be located in front of the heavy metal bench.

350 tickets to the ceremony went on sale last week and they are now completely sold out.

The bench is the brainchild of Black Sabbath fan Mohammed Osama, who says: “I’m thrilled that my plan to pay tribute to Black Sabbath in their home town has finally reached this presentation stage.

“The handmade, stainless steel bench is now being forged in the city and will feature images of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for Black Sabbath fans, citizens and tourists to enjoy.”
