Two further Pink Floyd vinyl reissues announced
Pink Floyd compilation album ‘A Collection of Great Dance Songs’ and live record ‘Delicate Sound of Thunder’ are being reissued on vinyl.
Released on heavyweight 180g vinyl on Friday 17th November via Pink Floyd Records, both albums have been remastered from the original analogue studio tapes by James Guthrie, Joel Plante and Bernie Grundman and will come with artwork that has been carefully replicated to mirror the originals.
The reissues will mark the first time ‘A Collection of Great Dance Songs’ and ‘Delicate Sound of Thunder’ have been available to buy in vinyl formats in over two decades.
Starting in June 2016 with 1967’s ‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’, 1968’s ‘A Saucerful of Secrets’, the soundtrack from the 1969 movie ‘More’ and a double-LP version of 1969’s ‘Ummagumma’, Pink Floyd’s complete studio catalogue was reissued on vinyl at intervals over the past 18 months.
Originally released in November 1981, ‘A Collection of Great Dance Songs’ has sold two-million copies in the United States alone. It contains alternative mixes and edits of the band’s seminal classics including ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’, ‘Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)’ and ‘Money’.
Recorded live over five nights in August 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, New York, ‘Delicate Sound of Thunder’ became famous for being the first rock album to be played in outer space. Soviet cosmonauts took it aboard Soyuz TM-7 for their November 1988 trip to space station Mir.
