UFO's Phil Mogg suffers heart attack
The band have cancelled their final shows

UFO frontman and co-founder Phil Mogg is recovering after suffering a heart attack.
The legendary hard rock band took to Facebook this evening (2nd September) to inform their fans that 74-year-old Phil Mogg suffered a heart attack last week.
Mogg has undergone an operation to fix stents into his two arteries, and, understandably, the band’s planned last ever concerts this autumn have been cancelled.
Phil Mogg said: "I have just got back from my doctors, and obviously asked amongst other things my resuming work, playing, touring, etc. She said most definitely not, unless you want another heart attack.
“So there it is, I have to go on a rehabilitation program which starts in about six weeks and lasts for six weeks. Three months more or less. I certainly didn't want to bow out in this fashion, as I am sure you chaps didn’t."
Phil Mogg added in his statement: "At this point in time it is absolutely unclear whether or not the dates will postponed into 2023. Most important now is that Phil recovers fully. Let’s see what the future will bring.
"Sorry for the bad news, but it is what it is. It was a pleasure working with you all, and if we don’t meet again (for obvious reasons) I wish you all the best."
The culmination of a larger European tour, UFO’s last ever concert was due to take place at the Fuzz Club in Athens, Greece on Saturday 29th October.
UFO played their final UK headline concerts in March and April 2019. Keyboardist and guitarist Paul Raymond died from a heart attack just 8 days after the final show at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town.
Sadly, former UFO bassist and founding member Pete Way died in August 2020 and former guitarist Paul ‘Tonka’ Chapman passed away in June 2020.
The current incarnation of UFO features founding members Phil Mogg (vocals) and Andy Parker (drums) alongside Neil Carter (keyboards, guitars, other intstruments), Vinnie Moore (guitars) and Rob De Luca (bass).
