WATCH: Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott sings at David Bowie tribute concert
Def Leppard singer/Planet Rock DJ extraordinaire Joe Elliott guest performed at the David Bowie tribute concert in London last night (8th January).
‘Celebrating David Bowie With Gary Oldman And Friends’ was held at London’s Brixton Academy on what would have been the late legend’s 70th birthday and opened with Oldman himself singing the ‘Earthling’ track ‘Dead Man Walking’.
Bowie’s former band members including guitarist Earl Slick, guitarist Adrian Belew, pianist Mike Garson and bassist Gail Ann Dorsey were among those providing the music on the night with Dorsey singing lead vocals on a number of tracks including ‘Space Oddity’, ‘Aladdin Sane’ and ‘Young Americans’.
Honouring his musical hero, Joe Elliott performed a spine-tingling version of the Bowie penned Mott The Hoople track ‘All The Young Dudes’ with The London Community Gospel Choir and a powerful interpretation of ‘Suffragette City’.

Other performers on the night included Rolling Stones backing vocalist Bernard Fowler, Joe Sumner, Simon Le Bon and Tony Hadley.
All proceeds from the 5,000 capacity sold out show are going to the Children & the Arts charity.
