Punk legend Iggy Pop has landed a role that most people would give an arm for; starring alongside the masterful Bill Murray in forthcoming zombie comedy film 'The Dead Don't Die'.

First appearing 20 seconds into the trailer, following a classically b-movie style voiceover, Iggy makes his presence felt in a somewhat unconventional visit to a diner...

Reassuringly true-to-form flouting his bare chest, Iggy makes a later appearance in the trailer  groaning "coffee!" in his trademark gravel-throated tones.

The admittedly amazing cast, punningly termed as "the greatest ever disassembled", features Hollywood veteran Bill Murray teaming up with recent Star Wars villain Adam Driver, as a couple of small-town cops investigating the strange goings-on in Centerville (population 738).

Alongside the dynamic duo are a whole swathe of other familiar faces, including Danny Glover, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi and, in a tantalising moment near the end of the trailer another gravel-voiced musical icon is revealed - none other than Tom Waits.

It's not clear at this moment in time whether Iggy's appearance is merely a fleeting cameo, or a more substantial character, but suffice to say, any film featuring both Pop and Murray is marked down in our books.

This isn't the first time Iggy has appeared on the silver screen; in 2016, he starred alongside the likes of Lemmy, Josh Homme, Slash, and Slayer's Tom Araya, as a fallen angel in "the loudest silent movie on earth", Gutterdämmerung. And as well as multiple TV appearances over the years, way back in 1986 he also made a cameo in The Color of Money.

The Dead Don't Die is due to open in the US on 14th June 2019.
