A staple of their live sets since 2018, Hollywood Vampires’ version of the seminal classic sees Johnny Depp take on David Bowie’s lead vocals and Joe Perry recreate Robert Fripp’s iconic guitar line, with Alice Cooper on backing vocal duties.

Hollywood Vampires recorded their version of ‘Heroes’ at Berlin’s fabled Hansa Studios – the same place Bowie wrote the original track in the summer of 1977.

Filmed in stark black and white, the official video melds footage from the Hansa Studios recording sessions with live clips filmed on their European tour last year.

Just like ‘The Boogieman Surprise’, which had its first play on Paul Anthony’s breakfast show earlier this month, ‘Heroes’ is lifted from Hollywood Vampires’ new studio album ‘Rise’, which is released on Friday 21st June.

Unlike 2015’s self-titled ‘Hollywood Vampires’, the 16-track album features predominately original material except covers of Jim Carroll Band’s ‘People Who Died’, Johnny Thunder’s ‘You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory’, and the aforementioned ‘Heroes’.

Planet Rock’s very own Alice Cooper says: “‘Rise' is not only a totally different animal than the first Vampires album, it is unique to anything I’ve ever been a part of.  I approached it very differently than I usually do when working on an album.

“Each of us; Joe, Johnny, Tommy and myself have written songs on this album.  What is different though is that I didn’t try to change any songs to be more "Alice-like."  Because each of us has different influences, the sound of this album is very cool.

“I think that with this album, we are establishing what the Vampires’ sound really is, whereas with the first album we were more tipping our hats to our fallen rock n roll brothers.”

Don’t forget, Alice heads out on a seven-date Ol’ Black Eyes Is Back UK arena tour this coming October. Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
