After an introduction from actor Jennifer Garner, Eddie, dressed in black, took to the stage with his guitar to perform a poignant cover of Tom Petty’s ‘Room at the Top’. Petty, of course, passed away last autumn.

Backed by a pianist, Eddie’s stripped-back and emotionally-charged version of the 1999 Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers track accompanied an on-screen montage of film industry figures who have died in the past year.

Late stars who appeared in the segment included Roger Moore, Chuck Berry, Harry Dean Stanton, John Heard, Martin Landau, George A Romero, Sri Devi and Jerry Lewis.
