Dr Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2012, has revealed that he has been "cured".

Speaking at the Xperia Access Q Awards in London on Wednesday (22 October), Johnson revealed the good news as he collected the Icon Award.

Of the groundbreaking procedure that saved him, he said: "It was an 11-hour operation. This tumour weighed 3kg - that's the size of a baby. Anyway, they got it all. They cured me."

Johnson continued: "Now I'm recuperating and hoping to regain my strength completely soon and go back on the road and the moral of the story is you never know what's going to happen."

Despite his illness, Wilko released a top ten album with Roger Daltrey earlier this year.
