Wolfgang Van Halen plays his dad Eddie's original Frankenstein guitar on new song – listen
The aptly entitled 'Take a Bow'
Wolfgang Van Halen has shared his new Mammoth WVH single ‘Take a Bow’ featuring an electrifying guitar solo performed on his dad Eddie Van Halen’s fabled Frankenstein guitar.
Clocking in at six minutes and 54 seconds, ‘Take a Bow’ is the longest song in Mammoth WVH’s career so far and it builds to an unforgettable guitar solo that was played on the original Frankenstein guitar and through Eddie’s original amps.
Commenting on the track, Wolfgang Van Halen says: “It was the last song we finished. It’s officially the longest song I’ve released to date, and I feel the guitar solo is really special.
“I played the solo on the original Frankenstein guitar and through Dad’s original Marshall head and one of the original cabinets.
“It’s straight up what he used on the earliest Van Halen records. It makes me happy to capture some of dad’s history on this song forever.”

Fans have been quick to praise ‘Take a Bow’, with one writing: “Somehow you can just hear that is Frankie in the solo! That squeal and harmonics are so good to hear again. Wolf, you rock brother and your Dad is proud as hell!”
Another wrote: “The guitar solo makes my heart smile big time. That sound is in our collective DNAs, ain't it?”
Following ‘Another Celebration At The End Of The World’ and ‘Pastime’, ‘Take a Bow’ is the third taster of Mammoth WVH’s second studio album ‘Mammoth II’, which lands on Friday 4th August.
Wolfgang Van Halen has had a busy summer playing coveted support slots with Metallica and Alter Bridge and a variety of festivals including Download earlier this month.
Wolfgang and his Mammoth WVH band mates support Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday (1st July) before playing further dates with them at Dublin Marlay Park and Glasgow Green next week.
