Disney have surprised fans by announcing the news many thought they'd never hear. During their quarterly earnings call CEO Bob Iger confirmed there are some sequels to very big titles on the way.

Although it is not known how far along the films are, Bob has confirmed that Frozen, Toy Story and Zootopia sequels are in the works!

Speaking about Disney's brands and franchises, Bob said: "We will have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we are leaning into our unrivalled brands and franchises."

Toy Story

As fans will know the Toy Story franchise has continued to be really popular over the years, starting way back in 1995, when the first film came out, introducing us to Woody, Buzz Lightyear and their friends.

Since the film's initial release we have already seen three sequels in 1999, 2010 and most recently in 2019, along with a spin-off called Lightyear which was released last year.

When it was released in 2019, Toy Story 4 took a massive $1 billion at the box office and won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.

Frozen

Meanwhile, fans of Anna and Elsa will be very happy to hear a third film is in the works, following the success of Frozen in 2013 and Frozen 2 in 2019. Disney will no doubt be hoping to see the huge success of the previous films both taking over $1 billion at the box office, with a third release.

Zootopia

Zootopia, or Zootropolis as it is known outside of the US, has also been announced for a sequel. The first film surpassed more than $1 billion at the box office when it was released in 2016, and saw a spin-off TV series on Disney+ called Zootopia+ released in 2022.
