This week's Community Choir on Angellica Bell's Saturday Breakfast Show is the chamber choir Omnia Voices - a group of up to ten singers from semi-professional choirs in and around London.

"We really like the atmosphere of singing in a smaller group," explained Abigail, one of the singers in the group, during her conversation with Angellica.

"We wanted to be able to choose our own repertoire, and we really wanted to do something for the community, so take the music into settings where people wouldn't normally experience a concert."

The ensemble performs repertoire ranging from Medieval music to close-harmony arrangements of popular songs. In its first season the group performed for residents in several hospices, care homes, shelters, and at the Grenfell Tower Support Centre.

"In the longer term we'd like to carry on doing what we're doing at the moment," continued Abigail. "We all have jobs, but sing in our spare time because we all love it! We've been very fortunate to have done a tour of places where each of the members of the group choir grew up. We've very hospitable friends and relatives who let us take over their homes for the weekend whilst we do it!"

Next weekend (Saturday 21 March) the group perform at St George's Church, Stamford in a fundraising concert for the British Heart Foundation. Tickets are available via Eventbrite.
