Most radios sold in the last few years can access DAB+ services and almost all DAB car radios are DAB+ enabled. For more information about DAB+, view our frequently asked questions.

Will there be gaps of silence after pieces of music?

Scala Radio is a classical music entertainment station which invites you to come as you are. We are keen to establish a certain pace and vibrancy within our programming but we will always be respectful of the music. However, to reflect our station's strapline ‘classical music for modern life’ it will be our considered policy not to leave large gaps of silence after every piece.

Simon Mayo's Saturday show

Every week on Simon Mayo's Saturday show from 10am until 1pm, we're joined by food and wine expert, Nigel Barden, who talks us through incredible recipes and the wines that go with them. As well as satisfying your taste buds, we also satisfy your ears with a classical track that compliments the food perfectly. Follow our recipes here.

Can I listen again if I missed a show?

Just because you can't always listen live, doesn't mean you have to miss out on Scala Radio's shows. Whether you missed Simon Mayo's mid-morning show, Mark Forrest in the afternoon or Mark Kermode on the weekend, you will always be able to catch up with our listen again feature on the app.

Catch up with any shows missed via the app by selecting the 'Shows' tab at the bottom of the app. Here you will be able to view all the shows from the past 7 days, including documentaries, interviews and special shows.

Does it matter if I don’t know much about classical music?

No, it doesn’t! Scala Radio is a station for everyone, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know your Mozart from Elgar, just come as you are and we’ll be with you along the way.
