Over the last seventy years, the LMP has developed an outstanding reputation for adventurous, ambitious programming from Baroque through to genre-crossing contemporary music, and continues to build on its long history of association with many of the world’s finest artists including Sir James Galway, Dame Felicity Lott, Jane Glover, Howard Shelley, Nicola Benedetti, James Ehnes, and Simon Callow.
Where were the London Mozart Players Piano Explored series of concerts recorded?
The London Mozart Players Piano Explored series of concerts are being recorded at St John's Smith Square in London, close to the Houses of Parliament in Westminster.
St John's Smith Square is a Grade I listed church designed by Thomas Archer and completed in 1728. One of the finest examples of English Baroque architecture, and is often described as 'Queen Anne's Footstool' because of a the legend that states when Archer was designing the church he asked the Queen what she wanted it to look like. She kicked over her footstool and said 'Like that!', giving rise to the building's four corner towers.
The then redundant church was to a charitable trust as a ruin following firebombing in the Second World War.
