A new Gold Medal winner of the Royal Overseas League Music Competition was announced last week. Violinist Eleanor Corr secured the trophy plus £20,000 in prize money. The final was held at the Royal Overseas League in London with a panel of adjudicators, and is available tonight to watch in full on YouTube.

The hotly contested competition saw Eleanor compete against flautist Sirius Chau flute, soprano Siân Dicker, and pianist Dominic Doutney in an event which showcased the talents of the brightest young musicians from across the Commonwealth.

Eleanor’s programme included a movement of Grieg’s Violin Sonata No.2 and several movements of Lutoslawski’s incredible violin partita.

Eleanor studied at the Royal Academy of Music and enjoys a varied and busy career, particularly in the UK and Norway. She has performed at Wigmore Hall, Sage Gateshead and Brighton Early Music Festival, and been a soloist with the likes of Multi-Story Orchestra and the London Chamber Soloists.
