Scala Radio is once again thrilled to be working with G Live across an exceptional season of performances. The 13th season offers an expanded programme including orchestral performances, ensembles and pieces from solo artists, many of which you can hear on Scala Radio.

The Guildford Season opens on 9th October 2024, with a performance from the Lviv National Philharmonic of Ukraine who will perform Elgar’s Cello Concerto featuring Czech cellist Jiři Bárta.

Other international orchestral highlights include Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic with Beethoven’s ‘Pastoral’ Symphony and Schubert’s ‘Unfinished’ (9th April 2025), and Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra of Colón Opera with Carmen Suite No.1 marking the 150th anniversary of Bizet’s opera (16th May 2025).

British pianist Mark Bebbington will make a welcome return to G Live’s stage when he joins Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra in Delius’ Piano Concerto.

Under the baton of Alexander Shelley, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s iconic Fifth Symphony (30th November 2024) and following her appearance in the 2023/2024 Season, Shiyeon Sung will conduct the RPO and 23-year-old Artist-in-Residence Johan Dalene in Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major (1st March 2025).

London Mozart Players will present an evening of classical favourites as they perform Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons (7th February 2025). To conclude the Season, Emma Johnson will perform a programme that takes inspiration from nature alongside the Orchestra for the Environment.

Venue Director Andy Locke said:

“We are delighted to include more concerts - incorporating orchestral, choral and solo artists - in an expanded Guildford International Concert Season in 2024/2025. Celebrating this treasure trove of classical music, it feels only fitting that we, at G Live, shine a light on the work of The Cheryl King Trust alongside the Season, and their aim to make music lessons financially accessible to all young people in Surrey.”

The final concert of the 2023/2024 takes place on Friday 17th May 2024, when Guildford-based Chloe Hanslip will perform Bruch’s Violin Concerto with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.
