Is there a trailer for series 6?

In addition to the start date, Netflix also shared a teaser trailer for series six, with the final series set to cover events from 1997 to 2005. The first part of the series includes four episodes and featured the tragic death of Princess Diana.

Bosses then released a dramatic trailer for part two at the beginning of December.

What happens in series 6?

Although Netflix bosses have received tonnes of criticism for their graphic portrayal of Princess Diana's passing and funeral in part one, it sounds like bosses are planning on ending the show on a positive note, with Charles and Diana's wedding.

A Netflix source told Mail Online: 'For some months it has felt like the show has been goading the public by ghoulishly telling the story of Diana's death in a heartless way, therefore causing upset to Princes William and Harry needlessly.

'So the decision to end it so nicely, Netflix hope, will change the perception that they want to be callous, they hope it will remove the bad taste from viewers' mouths.

'Charles and Camilla's wedding will be a true celebration and a really happy moment in the history of the monarchy. It also fits nicely into the King's Coronation year. 'But there are some staff working on the programme who see this all as a cynical move to protect Netflix from leaving its audience really upset at retelling Diana's tragic death.'

Although King Charles and Camila got married at St George's Chapel in Windsor in 2005, The Crown's production crew and cast were spotted filming scenes at York Minster on Wednesday 19th April.

Part two will also focus on Prince William meeting Kate Middleton, Princess Margaret's passing, and The Queen dealing with the Monarch's unpopularity following the tragic death of Princess Diana.
