Headed-up by Scala Radio presenter Luci Holland, the Tinderbox PlayAway Games Festival will showcase the creativity, diversity, innovation, and imagination in games and interactive media.

We're delighted to be playing our part at the festival too.

Listen to Luci Holland's video game show The Console every Saturday from 5pm on Scala Radio.

What is The Tinderbox PlayAway Game Festival?

From 22nd February to Friday 5th March, over thirty game designers, artists, composers, educators will convene for a series of panel discussions, workshops, demostrations, music performances, digital play sessions and game jams. Scala Radio is pleased to be joining them.

Tinderbox is looking to the gaming world and experience for inspiration on how to best manage the remote-working virtual world we're all experiencing right now.

The festival aims to tackle a number of different questions. How are games adapting and responding to the pandemic? How are gamers engaging in game play online and offline right now? What new opportunities for game designers to bring different gaming worlds together? And how do games need to develop, preparing themselves for a post-pandemic world?

How to get involved in The Tinderbox PlayAway Game Festival

The Tinderbox PlayAway Game Festival is staged on a donations-based model, offering free access for anyone to attend. The Festival is committed to paying our speakers and performers fairly.

Tinderbox PlayAway Game Festival Director Luci Holland said, “Games are such an exciting artform, with so much depth and so many possibilities. Games use all sorts of creative formats and technologies, inviting people to collaborate, communicate and explore ideas, and always with a playful ethos. We hope this festival will showcase some of this variety and create new connections and conversations with people from different sectors, including those who might not know much about games – yet!”
