A new podcast has been released today by Crime Monthly Magazine.

Made by Bauer Media in collaboration with True Crime Agency and presented by Danish crime reporter Stine Bolther, ‘Death in Denmark’ documents the most shocking murder investigations in Denmark’s history told by professionals who were involved in the case.

Already released in Denmark, the series has been a runaway success. Now translated for English-speakers UK audiences can explore the investigations across the series.

Four real-life cases are spotlit in the series.

Episodes are released on Wednesdays and are available on all the usual podcast platforms, including Apple, Google, Spotify and Podfollow.

Episode 1: The Woman in the Container

The disappearance of a 45-year-old woman in 2013 started a mass missing person’s investigation that led to a grisly discovery. After her decomposing body was discovered in a container, the search for her killer began. What investigators were able to conclude about how the woman was killed was unprecedented for the Danish police. But would they be able to catch her murderer using evidence found in a cluttered apartment?

Episode 2: The Missing Family

In the summer of 2000, Marianne Pedersen, 36, and her two sons, Dennis, ten, and 12-year-old Brian, went missing. After her stepson was unable to reach the family, he alerted authorities that there was a suspicious note on her front door saying she had gone on vacation. On entering the Pedersen home, police found blood splattered across the house. Investigators quickly identified Marianne’s new partner Peter Lundin as the prime suspect.

Episode 3: The Body in the Butcher’s Tub

Interrogation techniques were the key to unlocking the death of a man whose body was discovered in a slaughterhouse. In 1994, the summer heatwave in Denmark prompted a young couple to investigate a foul smell and what they unearthed was truly shocking: a tub containing a decomposing body. But who was the deceased man? And who had killed him and why? A full reconstruction of the incident finally brought the murderer to justice.

Episode 4: The Random Victim

When a lifeless man was discovered in a Copenhagen office building in 2017, investigators were desperate to find out how he had died. The police relied heavily on CCTV evidence to trace his final moments and unmask his killer, but a key witness was about to come forward. Lawyer Jakob Buch-Jepsen and professor of forensic medicine Hans Petter Hougen describe how vital evidence from his final moments played a crucial role in the trial.
