At Scala Radio we are evolving our schedule to offer listeners a broader range of music curation and programming.

From 2nd March, each weekday will see a brand new ‘Mindfulness Hour’ from 1-2pm, offering non-stop calming music with no advert interruptions. From 2pm listeners can expect to hear more of our greatest hits in our ‘More Music Afternoon’ which will run through until 6pm. That’s not all, you’ll also have the chance to enjoy upbeat classical music every weekday, as ‘Classical Bangers’ becomes a regular feature in our weekday schedule.

As we head into the weekend, on Saturdays you’ll have the chance to listen to Hannah Cox from 8-12pm, before Ayanna Witter-Johnson takes over from 12-3pm. The afternoons will continue with Jack Pepper from 3-7pm, followed by Darren Redick from 7-9pm.

Hannah Cox will be back in the studio on Sundays from 8-10am, followed by Scala original Simon Mayo from 10-12pm and MOBO winning YolanDa Brown from 12-3pm. You’ll have the chance to join Jack Pepper again on Sunday afternoon from 3-7pm, before winding down with Darren Redick on Sunday nights from 7-9pm.

The changes do mean that we will sadly be saying farewell to Mark Forrest, Mark Kermode, Luci Holland, Richard Allinson and Sam Hughes as they leave in line with the new schedule.

A huge thank you to each one of these brilliant presenters who have who all played such an important part of our journey so far, as well as Danielle Perry who has been hosting Saturday mornings ahead of the new schedule. We wish them all the best for the future.

Q&A

Q: Why are some of the current Scala presenters leaving?

A: We’re launching a new schedule from March 2nd, and as part of that we’re sadly saying farewell to a few of our presenting line-up including Mark Forrest, Mark Kermode, Luci Holland, Richard Allinson and Sam Hughes. They’ve been a brilliant part of the station, and you can still listen to Richard Allinson on our sister station Greatest Hits Radio and Sam Hughes on Planet Rock. We wish them all the best as they host their last show.

Q: Do you have presenters for your new weekday programmes or are they not presenter-led shows?

A: They will essentially be curated presenter free ‘jukebox’ style shows, so no presenters but a lot more music to enjoy.

Q: Will Charles and Penny’s show remain the same with the same features and guests?

A: Yes, both shows will continue with the features you know and love.

Q: Can I still listen to Scala in the same way?

A: Yes. Scala Radio is available nationally on DAB digital radio, smartphone or tablet using the Scala App or smart speaker. More details available here https://planetradio.co.uk/scala-radio/entertainment/music/how-to-listen-to-scala-radio/)
