Simon Mayo announced today on-air that he will launch a brand new drivetime programme on Greatest Hits Radio, playing the music that defined his early career. Simon starts his new show on Greatest Hits Radio on 15th March.

"Friday 26th February will be the last of these shows," said Simon this morning telling listeners about his move, "from me after two years almost to the day. I'm not leaving Scala altogether, just not doing this show.

"I've been asked to return to a drivetime show on Greatest Hits Radio. When it was offered I realised I couldn't say no. Unfinished business.

"Most importantly, the impeccable Mark Forrest will be your host. Obviously this will be sad. I do think we've all been part of getting through this incredibly testing time. Scala will continue what it does."

Having been with us right from the start of Scala Radio, Simon’s will step down from his weekday daily show on Scala Radio after a hugely successful two years. He'll move to a new show on Scala Radio, details of which will be announced in due course.

We're delighted that Scala Radio drivetime presenter Mark Forrest will take on the weekday 10am-1pm show. We'll be sharing news of an exciting new selection of programmes for Scala Radio, including drivetime, later this month.
