Shannon (14) and Ayden (10) are brother and sister - both have Horizontal Gaze Palsy with progressive scoliosis.

This is a genetic disorder which leads to learning difficulties, visual impairment and a twisted spine. Both have had surgery on their backs and before their application to Cash for Kids, both children required assistance with bathing in a bathroom totally inadequate for their needs. This led to frustration, anger and embarrassment. The installation of an accessible shower room was something the family just couldn’t afford and Cash for Kids was more than happy to ensure these children got back such an important part of their independence.

Shannon and Aydens’ Mum, Kirsty, said:

“Thank you so much for giving my children the ability to uphold their privacy, dignity and independence. I am so grateful to Cash for Kids. As I have just graduated from university I could not afford to improve my children’s quality of life. They love their shower room. Thank you so much Cash for Kids team.”
