A shy, introverted child who never really understood conversation or communication. A girl who rarely ventured outside to play with others. All she wanted was to swim.

Cash for Kids supported Taylor’s dream, allowing her to become a member of a local all-inclusive swim club. Taylor now competes at local and national level with some success too.

Over the Summer Taylor travelled to Sheffield to compete for Scotland’s Swim Squad at the Special Olympics – GB National Games. Picking up three gold medals in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly, winning by good margins. She also won a bronze medal in the women’s relay.

Taylor was the youngest competitor from Scotland and the whole of the United Kingdom.

There is no rest for Taylor as she enters the Discovery Games this Sunday. Then in November, Taylor competes in National School Championship trials at the Commonwealth Pool in Glasgow.

“Her measured skills, like reading and writing may not be strong, but, the funding made available to Taylor, as you can see, has made so much more possible for her and us as Taylor's parents.
