Ed Sheeran is rumoured to have written the winner’s single for this year’s X Factor.

According to a national newspaper, Simon Cowell has recruited the superstar songwriter to compose the track after last year’s winner’s single missed out the Christmas Number 1. Louisa Johnson’s cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Forever Young charted at Number 9.

A source told the paper: “Everything Ed does turns to gold. To have him write the winner’s song is huge and amazing news for this year’s winner.”

The track is rumoured to be a ballad and all the remaining contestants have heard the track and it works for the majority.

The only change his song won’t get used is if 5Am or Honey G pull off a shock win. Then bosses might need to consider another one of their options.
