Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson revealed he is expecting twins with his husband Carl Hyland last month, and now he has revealed the sex of his unborn children to fans.

Kieron, who plays popular character Ste Hay in the Channel 4 soap, announced he is expecting both a boy and a girl when they arrive later in the year.

Speaking to Digital Spy he said, "Our mums have done most of the buying [so far."

“We wanted to wait to see whether we needed to buy pink or blue, but now we know we can buy both colours, as we're having our very own Prince and Princess."

Kieron's character Ste has two young children on the show, Leah and Lucas. Adding that he's had 'the best training' he said, "I've had the best training ever with little Leah and Lucas, although we won't be calling the twins Leah and Lucas, that would be weird."

Kieron and Carl announced their happy news in the cutest way back in December. The actor shared a video showing a close up of their Christmas tree which slowly panned to a 'baby on board' bauble.

The pair can then be seen unwrapping a huge present that revealed a sign saying, 'Twins coming in 2017'.

Not long ago Kieron opened up on IVF struggles. He said, "We were hoping to have a baby this year. Unfortunately, like anyone who is trying for a baby through IVF, whether they are gay couples or not, it is a lottery."

He went on to say, "We have tried it four times, with the same surrogate mum, and we have fallen into that 30 per cent bracket of it not working. Everyone is fit and healthy, yet it just not working."

After months of struggles, the pair were finally given some happy news when they were told they were expecting twins.

Kieron and Carl married during a stunning ceremony at the Peak District in 2015. Many of Kieron's co-stars attended the ceremony including Jennifer Metcalfe, Jorgie Porter, Jazmine Franks and Bronagh Waugh.

The twins are expected to arrive later in the year.
