Marnie and Lewis split late 2016

It looked like a match made in heaven when Geordie Shore’s Marnie Simpson and former TOWIE star Lewis Bloor met on Celebrity Big Brother last summer, but after a whirlwind few months their romance ended just before the New Year.

Following the shock split, Marnie has now opened up and by the sounds of it the pair have remained the best of friends.

She said, “It's hard because we live so far away from each other. We both care about each other so much and it didn't end on bad terms. We're still speaking every day."

Marnie’s recent words come just days after the 24-year-old felt the need to defend herself on social media.

Taking to Snapchat to record herself, Marnie slammed reports that her romance with Lewis was ‘fake’ in an emotional video. She said, “I'm sick of people calling me names. Break ups are tough. I'm sick of people saying it was fake. It never has been fake.”

She then even threated to delete her social accounts by adding, "I might just come off social media altogether.”

Many CBB viewers believed their relationship was a ‘showmance’ during their time in the house, with fellow housemate and friend Stephen Bear admitting the couple wouldn't last outside of the house.

But the pair defied the odds for six months, with Lewis even admitting he wanted Marnie to be part of his ‘five-year plan’.

Despite the romance coming to an end, with the pair still very much the best of friends could we see a reunion in the future?
