Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher has died aged 60

Best known for playing Princess Leia

Carrie Fisher, who was best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars films has sadly passed away aged 60.

The actress had gone into cardiac arrest whilst aboard a flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday.

Spokesman Simon Halls announced that she had died today (Tuesday 27th December). The statement made to People read;

"It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning."

"She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."

The actress played Princess Leia in the original three instalments of Star Wars, acting alongside Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.
