Fleur Baxter, the creator of the massive straw bale art, has been brightening the community with her designs for many years. Last year the farm was decorated with characters from Winnie-the-pooh.

This year East Skeichen Farm has been decorated with Mickey Mouse and his friends. Fleur thought they were the right fit as we begin to emerge from the pandemic because: "Walt Disney wanted him Mickey Mouse to portray everything about bringing the family together and fun and good times."

The Angus artist, originally from Nottinghamshire, says the aim of her straw bale art is raising a smile from those passing by, saying: "Every year after harvest I pester my husband to let me have some straw bales to create some massive artwork.

"Really just as a way of brightening the commute for everybody as they're off to work and off to school."

Alongside brightening the day for commuters, Fleur is also using her art to raise money for charity.

Last years art work raised money for SAMH and this year the funds raised will go to Parkinson's UK.

She said: "I have a really really really good friend who's father is very unwell with Parkinson's and another friend of my late father who's not well either so it was an obvious choice this year."

Many people have been coming from all over Angus to catch a glimpse of the bale art. Fleur said: "its been really busy which is super because that's what you want."

The project took seven hours to complete, but it might not be the only one that we see this year as Fleur teased a potential Christmas display.
