A 16-year-old boy from Broughty Ferry will be going toe to toe with futsal stars from across the globe in next month's IFA World Cup.

Louie Anderson is the youngest call up for Scotland - and will be flying to China next month where he'll go up against the likes of Australia and Mexico.

The game uses a smaller ball and is similar to five-a-sides - the Grove Academy pupil says he was shocked to find out he'd been selected.

"My mum and dad knew, we were driving back from Perth and I got a text message from one the coaches." he said

"It said 'Hi Louie, we're really excited to give you some news, we're hoping to see you in China'.

"I was over the moon."

The teenager has been playing the sport for four years alongside 11-a-side games of football. He says the smaller sized pitches suit his style of play.

"I feel I'm quite quick and have good control of the ball. I like to show off sometimes and flick the ball through players' legs."

The 5th year student is one of two players from Dundee futsal club to be selected for the showpiece event. He hopes it could give him the platform to help him turn professional.

"There are careers in futsal, more abroad though, not so much in the UK. I think it would be possible to swap into football but if a futsal club wants to sign me so be it."
