Seven car parks across the West End are affected

A Dundee councillor is hitting out at the return of parking charges at seven car parks across the West End from 27th September.
Charges have been in force at most of Dundee City Council's car parks, as well as on street pay and display bays, since the middle of May.
However, charges at a few sites were suspended until students at the University of Dundee arrived for their first semester of the new academic year.
The car parks affected are:
- Roseangle
- Pennycock Lane
- Miller's Wynd
- Ryehill Lane
- Mid Wynd
- Union Street North
- Bellfield Street North
Charges will be in operation at the car parks Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with the first two hours free, then £1 for two to four hours and £2 for a maximum stay of eight hours.
Residents will be hit by charges
West End councillor Fraser Macpherson strongly criticised the move.
Cllr Macpherson said, “I am very critical of the council reintroducing these parking charges which will impact adversely on residents at a time when many are still working from home.
“I have consistently campaigned against charges in the West End where there is no residents’ priority parking permits scheme in place.
“The council started a consultation on residents’ parking in early 2020 and has failed to complete it.
“Reintroducing charges in the car parks without a residents’ parking scheme in place is entirely the wrong thing to do.”
