A man has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder a woman at Templeton Woods in Dundee.

Robbie McIntosh is alleged to have attacked the 52-year-old at the beauty spot on Monday afternoon.

He is accused of striking the victim multiple times with a dumbbell, and then dragging her, unconscious, into the woods.

He is then alleged to have tried to cover up the crime, by washing his clothes in a bid to destroy any evidence.

The woman was rushed to Ninewells Hospital where she was treated for a serious head injury, and has reportedly been left permanently disfigured and impaired.

Today, 31-year-old McIntosh made no plea or declaration to charges of attempted murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

He was remanded in custody, and will appear before Dundee Sheriff Court again next week.
