Man charged after ram raid at Fife Co-op store

A man has been charged after an alleged ram-raid at a Co-op supermarket.

The incident took place in Main Street, Thornton, Fife at around 2.15am on Wednesday May 17.

A Ford Transit flatbed van reversed into the premises and an attempt was allegedly made to steal the ATM inside.

Police said that a 25-year-old man has been charged.

He is expected to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court (pictured) on Monday.

The building sustained extensive damage.

Detective Inspector Stewart Andrew of Glenrothes CID said: Officers have been pursuing various lines of inquiry ever since this incident took place, which has included liaison with our colleagues in Durham Constabulary.
