A man has been convicted of the murder of a woman in Glenrothes.

Mark Campbell was found guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh of killing 48-year-old Jane Fitzpatrick in 2021.

Her body was found within a car in the Cable Road area on the 9th August that year.

37-year-old Campbell was also found guilty of a number of assaults and sexual offences against women in the Fife area over an 18-year period from 2003 to 2021.

Detective Inspector Scott Roxburgh said: “This was an extremely violent attack that has left Jane’s family devastated and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.

“Campbell will now have to face the consequences of his actions.

“I would like to thank Jane’s family, friends and those in the wider community who helped officers during this enquiry.

"Violence like this has no place in our society and Police Scotland will continue to work closely with the public and our partners to bring perpetrators to justice."

Mark Campbell is due to be sentenced at Stirling High Court on Thursday, 20 July, 2023.
