A Perthshire man is due to stand trial charged with murdering his wife and hiding her body in a cupboard.

John Lizanec is accused of killing 44-year-old Michelle Lizanec at a home in Inchture in February 2021.

The 47-year-old's also accused of trying to 'evade arrest' by fleeing to a house in Dundee after the alleged murder.

Prosecutors claim he cleaned himself of his wife's blood, changed his clothes and then got rid of Michelle's phone.

He is also facing a separate charge of acting in a threatening manner and engaging in abusive behaviour towards his wife.

Mr Lizanec's lawyer pled not guilty on his behalf today at the High Court in Glasgow.

A trial is set to begin this September in Edinburgh.
